Two arrested over man's death in Ecclefechan

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man who was attacked in a house in a Dumfries and Galloway village.

Kevin MacKay, 40, of Castle Acre, died after the incident at a house in Ecclefechan's Peacock Place on Thursday evening.

A 20-year-old and a 22-year-old are expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday.

The death came hours after the funeral of a local teenager.

Det Ch Insp Jim Kerr said "As we know the village has experienced a difficult time with the recent two deaths.

"However they are to be commended for the way they have pulled together and helped us in our inquiries.

"Police Scotland will continue inquiries over the coming days and will work with the community over the coming weeks and month."
