Man in court after Annan 'hostage' incident

A man has appeared in court after an incident in which two women were held hostage in Annan.

Peter Boyd, 26, who lived in the town, was on a petition before Sheriff George Jamieson.

He faced charges alleging the abduction of two women, possession of knives, assault and shoplifting at the Spar shop in Butts Street on Saturday.

No plea was made in the case at Dumfries Sheriff Court and he was remanded in custody.
