Car appeal after man dies in Houndslow crash

Police have appealed for information about a car which may have been involved in a fatal crash in the Borders but did not stop at the scene.

A 59-year-old man died in the four-vehicle incident on the A697 at Houndslow in Berwickshire on Monday.

His Kia Sorento collided with a Vauxhall Combo van, then crashed into a Vauxhall Vectra.

Three other people were injured. Police Scotland said a further car may have been at the scene.

The Greenlaw to Carfraemill Road was closed for more than seven hours as a result of the crash.

Sgt Brian Jones said: "An investigation is under way in order to establish the circumstances, and we are keen to trace the driver of a car which may have been at the scene at the time of the collision."
