Woman injured after Hawick river fall

A woman has been rescued after falling into a river in the Borders on Saturday evening.

The woman suffered chest and back injuries in the incident at the River Slitrig in Hawick, near Drumlanrig Bridge at about 18:40.

Scottish Fire & Rescue water teams used a stretcher to pull the woman to shore, where ambulance crews were waiting.

She was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.
