Crash Five people are in hospital following the crash on the A711 Dumfries to Dalbeattie road

Five people are in hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A711 road between Dumfries and Dalbeattie.

One of the injured - a 17-year-old man - had to be airlifted to Dumfries Infirmary after the incident involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a Volvo.

The road was closed for several hours after 17:00 on Tuesday as a full accident investigation was carried out.

Police have asked anyone who was in the area and may have information about the crash to contact them.
