Kelso High School plans make progress

A pre-planning application for a new high school in Kelso has been lodged by Scottish Borders Council.

It wants to build a replacement for the existing Kelso High on a new site at Angraflat Road.

Documents describe the new school as having a teaching block, community and sports block and external sports pitches along with car parking, playground and landscaping.

A public information meeting is planned in Kelso's Tait Hall on 28 August.

Education chiefs have said previously that plans for a new high school in the town have gained "pretty resounding" support from parents, pupils and the community.

It is hoped work on the new school could start next year.
