Car driver dies after crash with truck on A714

A car driver has died in a crash with a truck on a rural road in Dumfries and Galloway.

The collision happened at about 17:00 on Friday on the A714, about half a mile south of Clachaneasy.

A 59-year-old man, from the Lanark area, who was driving a silver Honda, died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the DAF truck was being treated in hospital for injuries. The road was closed while officers investigated the scene of the crash.
