Dunscore missing cattle appeal caused by miscount

A miscount of animals has emerged as the cause of a police plea for information about missing cattle worth thousands of pounds.

The incident was reported some time between 6 June and 11 June.

Ten Holstein-Friesian bullocks - each worth about £900 - were thought to have "disappeared" from fields near Dunscore Church in Dumfries and Galloway.

However, a recount of the cattle subsequently found that no animals were missing.
