Police Scotland have named a 54-year-old man who was found murdered in his flat in Dumfries on Friday.

Brian Scott's body was discovered in a property in Gilbert Circle.

Police said Mr Scott, originally from Stranraer, was known by the nickname "Tucker" and lived alone in the flat.

Det Ch Insp Gary Church said they were particularly keen to trace anyone who might have seen the victim on Thursday evening or Friday morning in and around his home.

The death was originally said to be unexplained - but police said on Sunday that it was being treated as murder.
