Work is set to get under way on a £600,000 scheme to repair and refurbish Moffat town hall.

The project has been developed by a local trust which has taken over responsibility for management of the building.

The refurbishment is being financed by grants from Dumfries and Galloway Council and Historic Scotland.

The repairs will including complete renewal of the roof, along with restoration of stonework and windows.

A beam above the stage inside the hall will be repaired, and landscaping work will be carried out at the front of the property.

Last year the Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust signed a 21-year lease to take over the management of the facility from the local authority.

As part of the agreement, the council will continue to operate customer services and library provision from the premises.

The trust will be responsible for hiring out the building.
