Man in court over Galashiels health centre incident

A 49-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an incident at a health centre.

John McCarry, appeared on petition from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, facing a charge of breach of the peace.

The charge relates to a disturbance at Galashiels Health Centre on Thursday afternoon when about 30 staff and patients had to be evacuated.

The building was closed and surrounded by members of the emergency services.

The incident passed off peacefully at 17:30.

Mr McCarry, from Galashiels, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
