Arrest after evacuation at health centre

Galashiels Health Centre An area at the Galashiels Health Centre was cordoned off

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an incident that led to the evacuation of a health centre.

He is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday in connection with events at Galashiels Health Centre.

Lothian and Borders Police and the region's fire and rescue service had been called to the scene and the centre was evacuated as a precaution.

An area near the building, on the town's Currie Road, was cordoned off for several hours by officers.
