Lockerbie man injured after cow kicks out

A man has suffered serious head injuries after a cow kicked out at an auction mart in the south of Scotland.
Andrew Howatson, of Lockerbie, was hurt in the incident at the Harrison and Hetherington market on Tuesday.
He was working with cattle when it is believed he was kicked by one of the animals.
He was taken to Dumfries Infirmary but was then transferred to Edinburgh for specialist treatment. His condition has been described as stable.
The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
