Borders pole crash driver escapes unhurt

A female driver has escaped unhurt after her car is believed to have skidded on oil and struck a telegraph pole in the Scottish Borders.

The incident happened at about 08:45 on Sunday on the A699 road between St Boswells and Kelso.

The 43-year-old woman's car left the road and hit a pole before ending up on its roof.

Fire crews were called to the scene, but the driver managed to crawl from the wreckage by herself.

She was checked over at the scene by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.
