Dumfries police hunt Eskimo hat attacker

Police are trying to trace a man wearing an Eskimo-style hat who is suspected of carrying out an attack which left another man in hospital.

The assault took place at the junction of Rosevale Road and Barkerland Avenue in Dumfries at about 06:30 on Sunday.

The 34-year-old victim was taken to Dumfries Infirmary with cuts and bruises to his head.

The man suspected of carrying out the attack was in his 40s, of heavy build and was wearing a black bomber jacket.
