Melrose supermarket plans approved

Plans to build a new supermarket in Melrose have been approved by Scottish Borders Council.

The application by the Co-operative Group was passed by planning officials under delegated powers.

The company intends to demolish a current High Street petrol station and garage and a neighbouring antiques shop to make way for the supermarket.

Planners have attached a list of nine conditions to the approval for the superstore development.
