Kelso couple Derek and Avril Peoples were killed in Borders car crash

Police have named the two people who died in a road crash in the Borders on Sunday.

Derek Peoples, 53, and his 51-year-old wife Avril, from Kelso, were travelling southbound on the A697 when their vehicle collided with a northbound car.

The crash happened a mile south of the junction with the A68 at Carfraemill.

Two people who were in the other car were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and treated for minor injuries. A police investigation is under way.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police.
