Three wards at Dumfries Infirmary have been closed to new admissions after a fresh outbreak of the norovirus winter sickness bug.
A total of 38 patients and 14 staff have been affected.
An outbreak control team is meeting to assess the impact of the second outbreak to hit the hospital in a matter of weeks.
More than 50 patients and staff were taken ill in early November.
