Hawick rugby player Greg Anderson on assault charge

A rugby player has made a private court appearance charged with assaulting a man to his severe injury, disfigurement and danger of life.

Greg Anderson, 21, a winger with Hawick RFC, is also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It follows an incident outside the Spice of India restaurant in Galashiels on Friday.

Mr Anderson, of Hawick, made no plea or declaration at Selkirk Sheriff Court and the case was continued.

He was released on bail by Sheriff Kevin Drummond.
