Ruthwell turkey thieves sought by police

Police are investigating the theft of six turkeys from a farm at Ruthwell in Dumfries and Galloway.

The theft took place between 08:00 on Wednesday and 13:00 on Thursday.

Police are keen to trace the occupants of a silver van with a Stewart Roofing sign on it which was seen in the area at the time.

The driver of the van has been described as about 20 years old, 6ft tall, of stocky build with short, fair hair and a Cumbrian accent.

He was accompanied by a boy aged about 15, also of stocky build, about 5ft 9in tall with short, dark hair and a similar accent.

The turkeys have been valued at about £60 each.
