Seven years for Stranraer woodland rapist Leon Pedley

A man convicted of raping a teenager before leaving her tied to a tree in Stranraer has been jailed for seven years.

Leon Pedley, 20, had denied the charge and lodged a special defence of consent.

The incident happened on 13 March this year.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Brailsford said: "The assault involved a degree of both coercion and violence."

The victim was 17.

Pedley was also placed on the sex offenders register.
