Motherwell men jailed for Galashiels Currys store raid

Two thieves who stole more than £2,000 worth of electrical appliances from a Currys store in Galashiels have both been jailed for nine months.

The pair were stopped by police some 17 miles north of the Borders town.

Jason Robertson, 36, and William Irwin, 54, both from Motherwell, had previously admitted the theft.

Selkirk Sheriff Court heard that their haul of washing machines and tumble dryers, worth £2,390, was fully recovered.

A vigilant member of the public had alerted the police to the theft after becoming suspicious of a white van parked outside the store.
