Borders ambulance station plans lodged

Plans have been lodged for a new ambulance station to serve the central Borders.

The Scottish Ambulance Service wants to build the new facility on land beside Borders General Hospital.

It says it will replace the current ambulance depot in Galashiels and provide a fit-for-purpose working environment for staff.

NHS Borders plans to transform the present depot into a £1.77m medical practice for Galashiels.

The application for an ambulance station, wash bay, canopy, workshop and parking for 31 vehicles is due to be considered by planners at Scottish Borders Council this autumn.
