Sanquhar man seriously hurt in attack

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked on his way home from a night out in Sanquhar.

The 53-year-old was assaulted in Queensberry Close, just off the High Street, at about 23:00 on Saturday.

Police said the victim was currently being treated for serious head and chest injuries in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

They are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the attack at the time.
