Lauder teenager charged over New Year's Day death crash

An 18-year-old man from Lauder has been charged with causing death by careless driving after an accident on New Year's Day in the Scottish Borders.

Lothian and Borders Police said it followed their enquiries into a crash near the town.

Scott Johnston, 18, of Earlston, died as a result of the accident on the A697 near Westruther on 1 January.

A statement from the police confirmed a report was being sent to the procurator fiscal.
