Queen of the South's Ryan McGuffie denies assault

Queen of the South defender Ryan McGuffie has denied a charge of assaulting a man in Dumfries town centre last summer.

At Dumfries JP Court, the 32-year-old footballer pled not guilty to committing the offence last August.

He denied repeatedly punching Christopher Kirk on the face on Queensberry Street, knocking him to the ground, chasing him and jumping on him.

A trial date in the case was set for December.
