Coldingham quad bike and chainsaw theft links probed

Police car The stolen quad bike was later found burned out

Police are investigating the possibility that the theft of a quad bike and two chainsaws in the Borders may be linked.

A green Kawasaki KLF300 quad bike was stolen from North Fallaknowe Farm in Coldingham some time between 09:00 on Friday and 16:00 on Sunday.

It was later found on Tuesday evening burned out and dumped in a burn.

Two chainsaws were taken from the workshop of another farm in nearby St Abbs on Sunday.

The total value of the items taken in the raids is estimated at about £3,000.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "These have been high-value thefts at two farms in relatively close proximity to one another and local residents in these areas are asked to contact police immediately if they remember seeing anything suspicious over the weekend.

"Anyone who can help with this investigation should contact police immediately."
