Eyemouth antique shop robbery charge denied

An Edinburgh man has denied carrying out a robbery at an antiques shop in the Borders nearly two years ago.

David Scott, 27, of Gracemount Drive, is charged with assaulting three people during a hold-up at Chapel Antiques in Eyemouth on 22 July 2010.

He is accused, along with others unknown, of brandishing a hammer, smashing a glass door and robbing the occupants of a quantity of jewellery.

He denied all the charges at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Mr Scott also pled not guilty to charges of flagging down motorists in nearby Church Street and attempting to rob them of their cars.

A trial date was set for 8 October at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
