Manchester man in court over Cairnryan port drug haul

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with a "substantial" seizure of cannabis on its way to Northern Ireland.

Police found the drugs at Lochryan Port, Cairnryan, on Tuesday.

The cannabis, with a potential street value of £2.1m, was found in a vehicle about to board a ferry to Belfast.

Bernard Ryan, 60, of Manchester, appeared at Stranraer Sheriff Court charged with drug dealing. He made no plea and was released on bail.
