A business case has been endorsed for a new £6m medical centre for the north west of Dumfries.
The facility, earmarked for the Lochfield Road, would incorporate a GP surgery, a pharmacy and a drug and alcohol service.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway will now submit the plans to the Scottish government for consideration.
Spokesman Jeff Ace said that while public finance was hard to find he was hopeful the project could proceed.
