Wheelie bin blaze hall replacement sought

Village hall fire The old village hall was destroyed by a wheelie bin fire in the summer of 2009

Councillors have backed plans to build a new village hall in south west Scotland to replace one destroyed by a wheelie bin fire.

It is nearly 18 months since the previous building in Cairnryan was damaged.

The 2009 blaze, which was blamed on vandals, resulted in the "total loss" of a vital community facility.

Plans for a replacement have now been approved by the local Wigtown area committee.
