A Dumfries singer-songwriter has won through to the final of a TV contest to unearth the best new music talent in Britain and Ireland.

Emma Gillespie, 27, who performs as Emma's Imagination, secured her place following a public vote and will now appear at Wembley Arena.

If she triumphs in Sky1's Must be the Music she would win £100,000.

Prior to her appearances on the show she spent much of her time busking on the streets of Glasgow.

As part of her success on the programme, Edinburgh-born Emma has also just released her first single, This Day.

The former St Joseph's College pupil will now take part in a live final to be held in London on 19 September.
