Man rescued after Port Logan Lighthouse plunge

A man has been rescued after he reportedly fell from a lighthouse and plunged into the sea off the coast of Dumfries and Galloway.

A Royal Navy helicopter crew from HMS Gannet in Prestwick was alerted shortly after 0720 BST amid reports that a man had fallen from Port Logan Lighthouse.

He was located in the water by rescuers and winched to safety.

He was later taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock suffering from head injuries and a broken wrist.
