Motorist killed in A9 accident

A 63-year-old motorist from the Aberdeen area has died after a one-vehicle crash on the A9 in Perthshire.

The accident happened at about 14:20 on Sunday near the junction with the A824 Aberuthven to Auchterarder Road.

Despite the best attempts of members of the public and medical staff at the scene, male driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead upon arrival at Perth Royal Infirmary.

The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, has not yet been named.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Investigations into the cause of the collision are at an early stage although at this time, there are not thought to be any other vehicles involved."
