European election: Polls close after day of voting

Voters across Scotland have been taking part in the European elections.

Polling stations opened at 07:00 and closed at 22:00 in an election which will see six Scots MEPs returned to the European Parliament.

Elections take place across the continent between 22 and 25 May, with the Scottish results being declared in Edinburgh after 22:00 on Sunday.

There are a total of 751 seats up for grabs, with 73 of those coming from the UK.

MEPs are elected for a five-year term.
