Hardgrove to Kinmount A75 upgrade opens to traffic

A stretch of the A75 that has been the site of a number of accidents has opened to traffic after a multi-million pound upgrade.

A little more than two miles of new road has been put in place on the Hardgrove to Kinmount section.

The improvement works followed repeated calls for action after a series of accidents - including one in which a baby died.

Transport Scotland said the works would increase safety on the route.

It added that the scheme would "improve connectivity and make Scotland an increasingly attractive option for business, leisure and tourism".
