West of Scotland bus operator McGill's Buses has placed a £2.5m order for new vehicles with Mercedes-Benz.

The 14 new Mercedes buses will feature on the company's Glasgow to Largs routes.

McGill's said the vehicles would provide added comfort for its customers.

The company, which operates mostly in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, expects the buses to be delivered over July and August.

McGill's has an annual turnover of about £35m. The company doubled in size between April 2010 and March 2012 and doubled again after acquiring rival Arriva Scotland West in 2012.
