A home and garden firm has confirmed plans to open its first superstores in Scotland, creating 300 jobs.

The Range, which has more than 75 stores across England and Wales, said it would open for business in Glasgow and Aberdeen by the end of the summer.

Each store will create 150 new jobs, including managers, sales assistants, warehouse and administrative staff.

The company said other new Scottish stores would "soon follow", but gave no further details.

The Glasgow outlet will be based at a former Wickes store in London Road, while the Aberdeen superstore will be located at the site of the former Amadeus nightclub at Queens Links leisure park.

The business, which is owned and run by Plymouth-based entrepreneur Chris Dawson, sells DIY products, homewares, furniture, lighting, arts and crafts and garden products.
