Booming subsea sector 'set for 10,000 new jobs'

About 10,000 jobs could be created in the booming subsea sector of the UK oil and gas industry, it has been claimed.

The subsea industry - much of it based in in the north east of Scotland - already generates about £6bn in revenue and supports about 50,000 jobs.

It is being estimated the market could grow by as much as 40% over the next two years.

The chief executive of Subsea UK, Neil Gordon, said the sector was helping lead the country's economic recovery.

However, some firms have said they are struggling to find skilled workers.
