Building firm Mactaggart and Mickel Contracts has started the year with a pipeline of £35m worth of business, the company has reported.

Projects for 2012 and beyond include a £27m contract for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village.

Work worth £3.2m will also start soon on the Carrongrove National Housing Trust Scheme in Denny near Falkirk.

The announcement came as the firm said it expected turnover to rise from about £6m last year to £16m in 2012-13.

Contracts is a division of family housebuilder Mactaggart and Mickel Group.

Other projects which are already under way include a £1.1m tender to develop the fourth phase of a veterans' housing project in Renfrewshire for the charity Erskine.

Mactaggart and Mickel Contracts is building 10 new cottages, which will supplement the 24 already completed by the Glasgow-based company.

Construction work for the 2014 Athletes' Village started on site in January and is expected to be completed in early 2014. A retrofit is planned after the Games to deliver a new residential hub in the area.

Mactaggart and Mickel Contracts director Peter Shepherd said: "The last 12 months have been very positive and our new contract wins are testament to our strategic approach to generating business and a committed team undertaking high quality work."
