Two men charged over fire at Peterhead bowling club

Two men have been charged over a fire which destroyed a bowling club in Aberdeenshire.

The fire on Sunday 15 June also caused damage to other business premises in Peterhead.

The men, aged 22 and 27, will appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday.

Insp George Cordiner, of Buchan community policing, thanked the public for their help during the investigation.

He said: "This incident caused significant distress and upset to the owners and users of these facilities as well as causing concern to the wider community.

"We recently requested the assistance of the public and I would like to express my thanks for that support.

"I hope we will continue to work together to ensure our community remains one of the safest places to live."
