Action taken by Petrofac over Lerwick 'drunken behaviour'

A company building a new gas terminal in Shetland has taken disciplinary action against five construction workers for drink-fuelled public disorder in Lerwick.

Petrofac gave a day off to construction workers on the Total plant last week.

There were various complaints about inappropriate activity.

Petrofac said it had sacked one worker and subjected another four to disciplinary action, and vowed to work with police to prevent a repeat.

The company added that there were about 2,000 people on the site and the bad behaviour was by a small minority.
