Sixth vessel to accommodate Total gas plant workers at Lerwick Harbour

A sixth floating accommodation unit is being brought to Lerwick Harbour to accommodate contractors working on Total's £800m gas plant.

The cruise ship Gemini is being brought by Petrofac and is expected to arrive in the next few days.

It will take the number of workers staying on floating accommodation in the harbour to 1,700.

The new gas plant is next to the Sullom Voe terminal.

Meanwhile, as part of the project, Total has announced it is developing the Edradour gas field to the west of Shetland, and has acquired a 60% interest in the neighbouring Glenlivet discovery.
