Dog rescued by coastguards after cliff fall near Portlethen

A dog appears to have had a lucky escape after falling from cliffs near Portlethen.

Coastguard teams and two lifeboats were called to the scene at Findon Ness at about 21:40 on Monday.

Rescuers used ropes to bring the animal to safety. The dog was placed in a secure bag to be brought back up the cliff.

He was then reunited with his owners and taken to a vet to be checked over.

A spokesman for Montrose coastguard said: "Once at the top the dog was met by its family and friends who were very pleased to see him.

"He appeared to have very little injuries considering the event."
