Firms fined after worker's fall at Aberdeen hotel

Two construction firms have been fined a total of £75,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries in a fall.

Scott Massie fell 4m through a hole on the first floor of the Rox Hotel on Aberdeen's Market Street in 2009.

His injuries included eight fractures of the vertebrae and he had to learn how to walk again.

At Peterhead Sheriff Court Aberdeen Fabrication and Riverside Construction both pled guilty to serious health and safety breaches.
