Man 'assisting Aberdeen sex assault inquiries'

Police investigating the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman in Aberdeen have said a man is assisting with their inquiries.

The incident happened in the Castlegate at about 03:30 on Sunday.

Police Scotland said a man had been traced and was "currently assisting with ongoing enquiries".

Officers renewed their appeal for people who were in the Castlegate and Justice Street areas of the city around the time to come forward.

Det Insp Kevin Walker said: "This is an unusual incident for Aberdeen and we have a number of dedicated officers investigating this incident."
