Jobs created as Amec awarded Nexen North Sea deal

About 150 jobs are set to be created after Aberdeen-based Amec won a North Sea contract with Nexen Petroleum.

Amec will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for Nexen's North Sea offshore assets.

The contract will run for six years, with the option of two extensions, each for a further two years.

Alan Johnstone, managing director for Amec's brownfield and asset management business in Europe, said it was a "great opportunity".

He added: "We look forward to building on our long-term relationship with Nexen and working with them to achieve safe and reliable operations in the North Sea."
