Scottish artist Eric Auld dies at his Aberdeen home

Scottish artist Eric Auld has died at the age of 82.

He passed away on Christmas Eve at his home in Aberdeen, the city which provided him with many of the subjects and landscapes for his paintings.

Auld was a graduate of Gray's School of Art and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland featured prominently in his paintings and an exhibition showing 60 years of his works was held earlier this year.

Auld's family described him as an "exceptional man". His funeral takes place in Aberdeen next Friday.
