Horse dies after collision with car near Dykside

A horse has died after colliding with a car on a country road in Aberdeenshire.

The accident happened on the B9022 Huntly to Portsoy road near Dykside at about 14:00.

The female driver of the silver Renault Clio was unhurt. The male passenger, who had to be cut free from the car by firefighters, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

Police Scotland said the horse died at the scene. The road was closed while officers removed debris from the road.
