Police appeal over Aberdeenshire 'ATM theft parts sightings'

Cash box Police said parts from the New Deer theft were recovered nearby

Police have appealed for sightings of what may be parts of cash machines targeted in a spate of raids in the north east of Scotland.

Officers are probing recent thefts in Bieldside and New Deer, and attempts on machines in Oldmeldrum and Inverurie.

Broken parts of the cash boxes taken at New Deer were recovered nearby.

Det Insp Graeme Mackie said: "What may appear to be dumped pieces of plastic or electrical equipment may be evidence of the crimes."

Officers are also appealing for sightings of a dark saloon car thought to have been involved.
